7 Steps To Harnessing The Marketing Power Of Instagram

As the world goes mobile and visual marketing crazy – “Instagram is shaping up to be the world’s most powerful selling tool,” according to Forbes.

The old adage that a picture can be worth a 1,000 words has never been truer – but perhaps it would be even more appropriate in today’s world if we said, “A great picture can be worth a 1,000 followers.”

Instagram is a great way to extend the reach of your marketing campaigns and increase followers and potential customers – and here are some easy-to-follow steps to help you make that happen!

Nail Your Bio

Make the most of your Instagram bio with a few succinct sentences that perfectly sum up who you are and what you do – and don’t forget to put your web-link on there.

Give and Take

Whilst posting marketing posts and pictures for others to look at will be your number one priority, make time for following and liking others people’s photos and posts. Also join in conversations, and always reply to any comments on your posts. Pick people to follow who you consider are your target audience – and this may attract them to take a look at your goods or services.

Don’t Make A Hash of Hashtags

Look for people using hashtags that are appropriate to your business. If you’re a tour operator then check out and follow people using hashtags such as #travel or #holidays.

Make The Most Of Photo Theft

People are always using photos that are copyrighted – so, if you think people are going to use yours, make sure they’re watermarked with your contact details. That way, if someone posts them online, it may still lead potential customers in your direction.

Multi-Connect

Connect your Instagram account to the other Social Media networks you use for marketing including Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest, as this can help increase exposure to your company, and followers on one network will hopefully follow you on Instagram, too.

Call To Action

Don’t expect followers to second guess what you want from them – make calls to action clear and concise – whatever they are.

Devise An Instagram Competition

Offering a small incentive can entice lots of people to respond to your calls to action such as a “Free Prize Draw” just for signing up to your newsletter.

Why not make the prize one of your products – that way it’s likely to bring it even more into the public eye. People are also likely to share free competition with their friends – increasing followers and potential customers.
